Science Matter and Motion in God's Universe

Health Let's Be Healthy

With a Christian approach to major health concerns that can affect teenagers, Let's Be Healthy discusses physical fitness, nutrition, and first aid. Among current health topics discussed are a high-energy diet, obesity, bulimia, anorexia nervosa, and the widespread AIDS epidemic. Don't spend another dime on your child's education until you read this book...

Strong comprehension and memory skills are the foundation for academic success. The brain must visualize what it reads or hears for strong comprehension and memory to occur. A large number of people do not visualize (see pictures in their head when listening and reading) at all or consistently. When poor visualization skills occur, then difficulty in several areas may follow: listening, attention, reading, spelling, comprehension, memory, test-taking, organization, writing, direction following and social skills. Some of my clients have actually been misdiagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, when the issue was actually poor comprehension/memory due to weak visualization skills. If the brain does not picture, it can not effectively attend. Medication will not help this type of attention issue.

Visualization skills are an integral part of the treatment program administered at our clinic. Due to many requests from clients this e-book was written to help parents teach this valuable skill at home. As parents are busy, the information has been written in a simple, easy to understand manner. Practicing 15 minutes a day three times a week can lead to significant improvements over time. Students cannot simply be told to picture - they need to learn the process step by step. This process can be used with ages six through adult, however, a section on how to work with younger children is included in the manual.

In addition to general listening and reading comprehension, there are specific sections in the book that address vocabulary, writing, organization, following directions and spelling. The spelling technique is also an excellent tool to help with the memorization of math facts, and the instructions are outlined in the book. Many clients have significantly improved their spelling skills in as little as two weeks using this powerful technique.

The book also outlines how I teach students with weak auditory skills how to read. When students have auditory learning issues, the teaching of reading skills must be addressed differently than for a typical reader.

In these pages I have written the specifics of some of the most valuable treatments implemented at our clinic. I am happy to have the opportunity to share them with you and wish much success to your child.
